Prospectus
Ogranizations
- The NEW location of Art in the Park 2008 offers
ample space, and plans for expanding the
Organization venue are in development.
- Organizations must be primarily visual arts
oriented to participate, and comply with the
Artist Guidelines as set forth in this prospectus.
- Interested Organizations are asked to contact Robert Decker robertwdecker@gmail.com by April 4, 2008.
- Booth Fees will start at $200.00 per 10’ x 10’
area, and additional space will be prorated.
- Power is available for an additonal fee of $25.00
- Organizations may use their own tents if they are of festival tent quality.
- Tent rental is available, rates upon request.
Booth Guidelines
- Artists provide their own tents and display equipment.
- Tents must measure 10’ x 10’.
- Booths will be on pavement.
- Tents must be weighted and leveled.
- No exhibitor shall sublet or apportion any part of their space.
Power is not available to booth artists.
- Portable generators are not allowed.
- Security will be provided from Friday set up until Festival close.
- Booth spaces and set-up times will be assigned. Details for set-up
will follow in Acceptance Information Package.
- Art in the Park reserves the right to prohibit any exhibit or
restrict any activity or conduct of an exhibitor which is
deemed undesirable.
- Art in the Park will not be responsible for the safety of
exhibits while in transit or in the exhibition area.
- Exhibitors
assume responsibility for injury or damage to personals items
and property within their space.
Artist Guidelines
- Art work must be orignally executed by the applicant.
- Artist must accompany their work and be present throughout
the festival. A substitute is permitted for breaks.
- All works must be for sale.
- Only works consistent with the quality and mediums presented
in the application presentation may be displayed. No exceptions.
- No dealers or agents, no works from kits or commercial molds,
or items bought for re-sale.
- Reproductions are limited to 40% of booth display, must be
clearly marked as a reproduction, and displayed in a separate
bin from orignals.
- Booth exhibitors are responsible for sales tax collection.
Proof of business license, or DBA, license may be requested.
- This does not apply to artists in the Membership Fence Show.
Membership Fence Show (open only to UVA Members)
- Within a 10” x 10’ tent, each artist
will have a display space consisting
of: Two 4’ x 8’ covered screen panels.
Side curtain for night time security.
(see diagram).
- Artists are to supply any additional
methods for displaying work. Venue open to 2D and 3D works.
- Artist guidelines apply to Fence Show artists.
- The Fence Show will be located on the South Main St. Plaza.
Application Process
- Applications must be received or postmarked by May 2,
2008. Follow the check list of required enclosures on the
entry form.
- Artist will apply in ONE primary media category to be displayed. However, images of additional media must be included in the Slide/Digital presentation.
- Only Artists who are current members of UVA as of
Sept 2008 are eligible for the Membership Fence Show if not
accepted in the Booth Show.
- No more than 2 artists may share a booth. Artists are to
apply jointly, and will be judged as a single entry for a
single entry fee. Please check “Joint Entry” on the entry
form, and follow the instructions for a “Joint Entry” as described in the Slide/Digital presentation submissions.
New Double Booth Space
- There will be a limited number double booth space available. They will measure 10’ at the curb, and 20’ extended.

Credit Card Sales
Art in the Park will offer credit card sales processing for a serivce fee. Details upon acceptance.
Medium Category
Artisis will apply in one primary media category. However, images in additional media must be included in the Slide/Digital presentation.
Slides/Digital Presentation
- Slide Criteria
- 35mm in sleeves.
No tape on mounting.
Must be labeled with artist name.
- Digital Criteria
- jpeg format
Only images to be judged should be on the CD.
300 dpi resolution, image size no larger than 6" in and 1 direction
Submissions
- Please submit 4 images (numbered 1-4)
- representing works to be displayed
- Joint entries submit 4 works from both artisis.
- 5th image (numbered 5)
- Booth Show - image clearly showing work displayed in tent
- Joint Entry - image must clearly show works of both artists displayed in tent
- Fence Show - image clearly showing several works arranges in a diaplay.
Description and Statement
Include a single typed page giving a brief
description of each image of work as they are
numbered 1-4.
Include a one page typed Artist Statement
describing medium, and process used in
creating original works and reproductions.
Acceptance notification will be emailed on May 23, 2008. If you do not have Internet include
a self-addressed and stamped envelope with application,
for notification to be mailed.
