Upstate Visual Arts is pleased to announce the Fall Juried Show 2009. The exhibition will have an opening reception on Friday, September 4th at the organization’s NEW gallery in the Pendleton Street Arts District on Smith Street.
The show is open to all members of Upstate Visual Arts and to the residents of the state of South Carolina.. Artists are encouraged to join the organization, but are not required to do so in order to enter the show.
The exhibit will run through the month of September and will be featured during the West Greenville Arts Festival, September 19th and 20th.

Jane Allen Nodine is Professor of Art and Director of the Curtis R. Harley Art Gallery at the University of South Carolina Upstate. Her work has taken many forms over the years including drawing, painting, design, jewelry-metalsmithing, installation and photography, and she has exhibited throughout the United States and in Europe.
Jane has been recognized with numerous awards including an NEA/SECCA Southeastern Seven IV Fellowship from the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art in Winston-Salem, NC and two South Carolina Arts Commission Artist Fellowships. In 2002 she was awarded the Belle W. Baruch Visiting Scholar Fellowship to Hobcaw Barony Plantation in Georgetown, SC and in 2008 she received the Faculty Award for Scholarly and Creative Pursuits from the University of South Carolina Upstate.
Jane has been recognized by the Southeastern College Art Conference with the SECAC Award for Teaching Excellence, and in 1999 by the South Carolina State Museum and the South Carolina Arts Commission as one of the one hundred most significant artists in South Carolina during the 20th century.
Jane developed and serves as director of a study abroad program in art and Italian culture that offers students an opportunity to study and travel to locations including Milan, Venice, Florence, and Rome.
